There is, and never has been, a value assigned on any official GIA certificate. A GIA gemologist appraisal is an appraisal issued by a gemologist trained by the G.I.A. (Gemologist Institute of America). As with any institute or academy there are adept graduates and there are mediocre graduates but GIA remains the premier gemstone institution and is world renown. Terms like: Diamond Expert, Diamondologist, Master Diamondeer, Master Jeweler, Certified Diamond Buyer and the like have no affiliation to GIA or any actual institution and in reality are self claimed titles.
